Two excellent EPs, a devastatingly brilliant album, not forgetting a few extremely popular free downloads; there has been plenty to display an impressive level of imagination and consistency throughout 2006.

And it's not (quite) over yet.  This week sees the release of a remix of Ted from Boards of Canada favourite, Bibio.  Eschewing drum machines and synths in favour of looped guitars and effects, it serves to highlight just how musical the original is.  You can get this exclusively from Rough Trade's new digital store for a limited time.  In fact you've got 'till Friday.

There's also a video coming next year.  Created by New York production house 1st Ave Machines, you can see an exclusive never-seen-before image from the video at the top of this email.   Don't take your eyes off Clark for a second in 2007.

Mira Calix

Squarepusher

Eyes Set    Against the Sun, the forthcoming album by Mira Calix, is out on 15th January (23rd Jan in the US). Following a period of hyper activity, writing music for art installations, dance pieces and even a circus, it seems Chantal Passamonte has kept back her most intimate and personal music for this long player. It’s electronic music that breathes like an orchestra breathes.

There are also some live Mira Calix dates forthcoming. Scroll down for info.

Clark

Grizzly Bear have announced a new US tour from February next year with their shiny new kit. Full details are in Warp Live below.

There is also a digital single (an almost unrecognisable reworking of Easier from Yellow House) available in the UK on Bleep and Rough Trade Digital from 8th January and currently video magic is being made in a post production studio for a larger scale US single release.

Yellow House got to Number 8 in the Pitchfork Top 50 Albums of 2006! See the rest of the Top 10 here

Squarepusher

This Is England

You can’t speak for the sound of popping Champagne corks in the Warp Films offices these days!

You may have read that Shane Meadow’s This Is England won BEST FILM at the UK Independent Film Awards a couple of weeks ago. The film’s star Thomas Turgoose also won Most Promising Newcomer.

If you’re desperate to see what all the fuss is about, we are happy to let you know that everyone in the UK will be able to see it in April 2007 (around St George’s Day probably) via Optimum Releasing. We hope to confirm a release in the Rest of the World very soon.

!!! (Chk Chk Chk)

The first taster from !!!’s Myth Takes is hitting clubs right now and already getting heavy radio rotation in Japan. The track, entitled Heart of Hearts is undoubtedly one of the best things they have ever done and a perfect introduction to the barn-storming new material.

!!! are also playing a NME Awards Tour show with Maximo Park, Hot Club de Paris and Blood Red Shoes at London Astoria on 21 Feb, as well as the warm-up show in Newcastle the night before. Both shows sold out in under 30 mins. A world-wide headline tour is currently being arranged.

Battles

There will be new Battles music early next year. We haven’t heard much yet, but what we have heard sounds like nothing else.
