Squarepusher :: Hello Everything

Incoming

broadcast packshot

broadcast trish

Kicking, screaming into the light comes Hello Everything, Squarepusher’s 10th album and most open and liberated music to date. You sense he had loads of fun making it too. As Tom himself notes, “It’s full of tunes. It’s what you do after you’ve gone to the brink - have a laugh.”

“perhaps his best record to date” London Milk (Milk Factory)
“as forward thinking, relevant and as predictably unpredictable as ever”
Barcode
“a thing of unbridled joy” The Guardian

Last weekend Tom featured heavily in BBC2’s The Culture Show – getting bigged from Andre 3000 of Outkast, and recording his own bass piece and interview. It was pretty damn special. If you missed it or don’t live in UK, you can see it here via the power of YouTube

Also, his new site has now launched with many things so see and hear. We aim to get more added over the coming weeks too.

Clark has loads of gigs coming up, and is currently working on his live show. It’s always worth hearing those huge beats on massive systems too… Check Warp Live below.

Finally, following dozens of emails requesting them, there are two Clark t-shirts designs heading to Warpmart next week and a single and exciting new video on the horizon. Keep an eye out…

Born Ruffians :: Debut EP out now

Clark

Squarepusher

In an age where young bands sound fresh out of the studio instead of fresh out of the garage it's refreshing to hear a pack of lads who don't shy away from freaking out a little bit. Maybe it's the crisp Canadian air or maybe it's (gasp) actual inspiration, but the Born Ruffians have that ever elusive, impossible-to-put-your-finger-on magic factor. That combination of impeccable songs and drunken youthful swagger that makes your favourite rock records sit themselves comfortably in your brain and refuse to get out.

The self-titled debut EP is released by Warp in the US and Canada on 17 October. If you’re based in the UK it’ll have a pink shirt, a slightly different title and an XL logo on the sleeve.

Grizzly Bear :: Euro Tour, Electric Proms Video

Squarepusher

As part of the BBC Electric Proms, new filmmakers were challenged to submit ideas for music shorts for tracks on leading independent record labels. A budget of up to £5,000 and the chance to work with Warp Films to produce their shorts was on offer for the winners.

Alex Turvey was one of 300 people who entered and his surreal short for Grizzly Bear’s Knife was selected as one of 5 winners! These films will be premiered at the Electric Proms events, but hopefully there will be a more web-friendly way of viewing soon.

Lots of new European tour dates in November announced too – see Warp Live…

NOW

As well loads of new live dates (see below), USA iTunes users can buy two new videos featuring live performances in Paris, here We’ll try and get these available in other stores soon.

Alexander’s Annexe / Mira Calix

Alexander’s Annexe’s Push Door To Exit, a 30 minute piece that twists and turns in temperament and sound (all from the piano although you’d never guess it) will be released on Warp on 6th November.

To celebrate, the widely acclaimed ensemble (Mira Calix, David Sheppard and Sarah Nicolls) will also be performing live at a special seated event (with enough room to shake a leg) at Koko in London on 9 November. DJ sets from Plaid, Luke Vibert and Mira Calix as well as live performances from Powerplant and Mr. Hopkinson’s Computer complete the quite special line-up.
More information and tickets

We are also delighted to announce that Mira Calix has delivered her new full-length solo album, and it is set for a 22 January 2007 release. It's called Eyes Set Against The Sun, which we think is a beautiful title…

Warp / Bleep event :: New York

There will be a major live Warp event in NYC on Saturday 18th November to be headlined by Jamie Lidell and Battles, as well as Clark, Man Man and more. It's at Webster Hall, 125 East 11th St from 6.30pm (early show!), with an afterparty to follow until 5am. Click here for full line-up and ticket details

Unlike most nights that carry the Warp name, this is actually being put together by us, and all ticketholders will also receive an exclusive download compilation from Bleep

Regular readers will know that there’s a few dubstep fans at Warp and the talisman of BBC Radio 1’s Breezeblock, Mary-Anne Hobbs’ forthcoming compilation (Warrior Dubz on Planet Mu) has the potential to be the next springboard in the scene’s hugely exciting evolution.

To support the release, the club night (see Competitions), and because she means a lot to us, Mary-Anne has kindly allowed herself to be interviewed for the Warp website
