Autechre USA Tour

Incoming

TLS

After the release of their 8th album Untilted and a tour of Europe, Autechre have arrived in the USA, their first visit since 2001. See below for the full list of dates. Untilted continues to push the boundaries of sonic experimentation but also hits straight between the eyes with a raw, almost live-in-the-room immediacy. The vibe is reflected in their devastating new live show - a proper crowd mover in mainly club venues with full-on sound. Do not miss! After the US tour, Autechre play 2 dates in Japan in early June with Mark Bell (LFO), Russell Haswell and Rob Hall.

Jamie Lidell New Album and Single

TLS

TLS

One man cutup band, singer, beatboxer and all-out showman, Jamie Lidell's long-awaited new solo album Multiply is finally released on Warp on 13 June, preceded by a 3-track 12” and download on 16th May. Jamie (and co-conspirator Pablo Fiasco on visual and costume duties) has also spent the last couple of years building up a rep as one of the most mind-boggling live acts around, earning him standing ovations everywhere from The Royal Festival Hall to the dirtiest basement in Berlin.
From his earliest experiments in the Brighton techno scene and partnerships with electronic luminaries such as Cristian Vogel and Matthew Herbert, Jamie has for a long time operated within the electronic music spectrum - but at heart and onstage has always been a British soul vocalist beyond your wildest imagination. Now he has crafted a twisted R&B classic that retains the power and emotion of Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding or Stevie Wonder and adds the finely-tuned Lidell electronic production and drums.
Currently blowing up clubs across the country, the 3 track single When I Come Back Around is released this Monday 16th May on 12” vinyl and digitally through Bleep. The 12” also features The City, the video to which was included on the Warp Vision DVD.

Chris Cunningham Rubber Johnny

Rubber Johnny the new short film from Chris Cunningham is released through Warp Films on 6th June. The film features music by Aphex Twin (AFX237 V7 from Drukqs) and is released on DVD accompanied by a 40 page book of Chris’ original drawings and sketches. Rubber Johnny will also be the first ever video download from Bleep, available in archive quality XVID format.
"The primary objective with this video was to try and push the synchronisation aspects of my work to the limit. I wanted to see how fast you can go before it becomes nonsensical, a mess. It was incredibly difficult to edit this video and find that line where it seems breakneck, but still flows and makes sense as a sequence. I would have to redo each shot about twenty times in order to find something that worked. It was closer to animation than editing and I had to create the video 2 frames at a time. Sometimes spending a day on just getting two frames to work to the music"

Maximo Park

After two singles in the top twenty and top fifteen, Maximo Park are poised to release their debut album A Certain Trigger on Monday 16th May. Produced by Paul Epworth, the album is a succinct and masterful slice of guitar pop. "From opener Signal and Sign, an infectious attack on lethargy, to the brilliant Going Missing, Maximo Park have made a record itching with ideas, full of lyrical twists and nods to Sparks, Talking Heads, The Smiths and Duran Duran, however much they may deny their influences" NME

  Chok Rock

Chok Rock are a mutant strain of Parisian electroids, led by Gael Baillier and featuring Camille Bazbaz, Cyril and Check Morris. Unearthed by a member of !!! in Rough Trade last summer, the debut 12” Big City Loser has been variously descibed as “Akufen meets Parliament” (Trevor Jackson) “Jamie Lidell meets Prefuse” (lazy journo), and ”a futuristic dampness impregnated with Sex” (Gael Baillier) and has been reissued by Warp (out now) remastered and with an extra track on the CD. More Eps and an album will follow.

Jackson

Warp are pleased to announce the signing of Jackson, the hotly-tipped 25-year-old Parisian producer whose extraordinary music is steadily getting recognition in the electronic world. Best known for 2003's 'Utopia' single and his remix of M83's 'Run Into Flowers', Jackson Fourgeaud is one of the most exciting and original new electronic talents to emerge from France since Daft Punk. He describes his wild, romantic electronic pop music as "antique futurism", a "style orgy" that sounds like nothing you've heard before. The debut album 'Smash' is released in the Autumn, preceded by a single in the summer. Jackson plays at the Vasarely Festival on June 4th in Aix en Provence.

Warp Films

Apart from the release of Rubber Johnny (see above) Warp Films new distribution label will release the classic American documentaries Paradise Lost and Revelations: Paradise Lost 2 by Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky (directors of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster). The celebrated films (featuring a soundtrack by Metallica) tell the story of three Arkansas teens convicted of satanic child murders on the basis of one forced confession, in what's been likened to a modern day Salem witch hunt. The films sparked an international movement to "Free the West Memphis Three" backed by Marilyn Manson, Winona Ryder and Tom Waits amongst others.
Gripping ... The best documentary of the year, maybe of the decade. -The New York Post
Stunning... A banner of tattered Americana artfully unfurled ... As good as non fiction film gets. -The Los Angeles Times
