Two Lone Swordsmen


The Swordsmen’s new album From The Double Gone Chapel is out now and has got everyone talking. With vocals by Andy, plus Keith on bass and drums, the album is full of the Swordsmen’s many influences - dub, goth, industrial, electro, punk, psychobilly and more. Listen on the excellent New TLS Site or Bleep.
Next up from The Swordsmen is the fiendish Gun Club cover Sex Beat, released in late July with new mixes from Weatherall.

Warp and Sinfonietta in Bruges, 17th June

After the success of the UK tour in March, the London Sinfonietta are playing two dates in Europe consisting of the Warp Works and 20th Century Masters show that debuted at last year’s Ether Festival. The Show takes place in Bruges on 17th at the Concertgebouw

Gravenhurst

We are pleased to announce that Gravenhurst has signed to Warp. His debut album Flashlight Seasons is released on 28th June, having previously had a limited release on the Bristol label Silent Age. Gravenhurst play several choice live dates this Summer, from London sweatboxes to lush remote festivals, including a show with Lex / Ninjatune artist The Fog at Cargo on Weds 16th June.

Glastonbury and The Glade Festival

As usual Warp artists will be ravemasters at the Glade area at Glastonbury for a day and night on the Saturday, full lineup here. The masterminds behind the Glade then unleash the inaugural Glade Festival in July (16th-18th July, Berkshire nr London), a 3 day mega fest with not a Paul McCartney or a Joss Stone in sight. Warp artists take over the main tent for one whole night, so expect it to kick off. Look forward to Squarepusher, Afx, Plaid, Cylob, Luke Vibert, Mark Broom, Keith Tenniswood, Ned, Mira Calix with lots more. Last tickets are available now so get a move on.

Warp And Lex related highlights at this year’s Barcelona blowout are: Beans; Eastern Developments Showcase With Prefuse 73 And DJ Nobody; Big Lex Records Showcase With Boom Bip, Danger Mouse, Prince Po, Plus A Separate Live Show From Buck 65; The Accidental Showcase with Mara Carlyle ( Plaid + Matthew Herbert vocal collaborator) Well worth checking out would be Matthew Dear Live and a Ghostly showcase with Dabrye And Geoff White, Madlib, Pansonic, Richie Hawtin Vs. Ricardo Villalobos, plus the Beta Botega/Botanica Del Jibaro mashup on the Thursday.
Off-Sonar events are down to you, but absolutely don’t miss the suberb Absorb/Erratica three day special and a nice plate of tripe and beers in La Boqueria at 7am on Sunday. Have fun!

 



Luke Vibert

Ninjatune release the long awaited new Wagon Christ album in June! Sorry I Made You Lush follows a prolific last 9 months from Luke, what with YosepH on Warp, his Amen Andrews and Kerrier District projects for Rephlex and some big tours of Japan and USA. Check out the Ninja site for more info, real audio sound nibbles and a typically purple press release.

Lex

A new release from Boom Bip CoryMb is out now, consisting of remixes from Boards of Canada, Mogwai, Four Tet, Lali Puna and Venetian snares plus the peel session and new tracks. The 12” forms a companion piece to the From Left To Right EP, and the CD version rounds up both parts to make a compendium of lushness. Boom Bip is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to his new album.

The roll-call of contributors to the album reads like a Christmas list, and includes Danger Mouse, Madlib, J-Zone, Jel, Richard X, Jemini TheGifted One, J-Ro (Tha Alkaholiks) and MF Doom. Noice!
